Julia provides private yoga sessions in her studio in Weehawken. All sessions are tailored to the client. Sessions can be offered in a chair, for those who have difficulty doing floor work. You can choose from:
Integrative Yoga Therapy bridges the ancient wisdom of yoga and our modern understanding of mind/body health. It is based on a deep understanding of the principles of yoga, combined with knowledge of modern research on stress, psychoimmunology, and body mechanics.
Julia draws from yoga’s powerful tools—asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), mudra (hand gestures), Yoga Nidra (deep rest), and meditation -- to meet you where you are, bringing you to a state of self awareness that enables you to use yoga for your own growth and well being.
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy combines yoga techniques with elements of contemporary psychology to focus on your body’s inner wisdom. During a session Julia holds you in gentle yoga postures and helps you explore sensations and feelings through open-ended dialogue. Your body releases chronic tension and pent-up emotion, freeing you to access deep intuition, which she then helps you process and apply to your daily life.
Restorative Yoga relieves tension and stress and provides an opportunity for deep relaxation. Julia brings you into positions where you are fully supported by props, which allows you to let go of chronically held tension and stale emotions.
“I had a wonderful Phoenix Rising experience with Julia. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but she took plenty of time explaining the therapy to me. Then when we got going, I felt really well cared for. Julia has a great touch – steady and compassionate. As she put me into a sequence of poses, she constantly checked in to see how I was doing. It was great. I recommend Phoenix Rising Therapy and I recommend Julia Hough.” — Howard Siegelman
